This Movember, Let’s Encourage Open Discussions
At Big Rose Bookkeeping, we believe in caring for our community.
Let’s prioritize mental and physical health—check in on friends, have open conversations, and remind each other that it’s okay to ask for help.
"Finding strength in connection."
Movember isn’t just about rocking a mustache for the month of November—it’s about starting conversations, raising awareness, and taking action to support men’s health. From coast to coast, Canadians are embracing this global movement to shine a light on critical issues like prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention.
A Movement with Canadian Roots
Did you know that Canada consistently ranks as one of the top countries in Movember participation? With over 1.4 million Mo Bros and Mo Sisters contributing to the cause, our nation has raised more than $200 million since Movember's inception. This isn’t just about dollars raised; it’s about lives saved.
The Movember Foundation, which organizes the campaign, works with Canadian healthcare providers, researchers, and mental health initiatives to create programs that directly impact the lives of men in our communities.
Why Men’s Health Needs Attention
Canadian men face unique health challenges. According to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. Testicular cancer is the most common cancer among young men aged 15–35, yet it often flies under the radar.
When it comes to mental health, the statistics are equally alarming. Men are three times more likely to die by suicide than women, and many suffer in silence due to societal expectations around masculinity. Movember encourages men to talk openly about their struggles and seek support without stigma.
